One of the most outstanding Polish documentary filmmakers. Nominated for an Oscar for „89 mm from Europe” in 1994. Winner of the European Film Award for „Poste restante”, four awards at the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen and as many as twelve awards at the Krakow Film Festival (KFF). Director of such films as „Matriculation” (1977) – Bronze Hobby Horse at the KFF, „Microphone’s Test” (1979), „Katyn Forest” (1990) – Silver Sestertius at the Vision du Reel in Nyon, „Anything Can Happen” (1995) – Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco IFF, „How It’s Done” (2006) – White Cobra Grand Prix at the Man in Danger Media Festival and „Father and Son on a Journey” (2008) – Silver Horn at the KFF. In 2018 he was awarded the Platinum Castle at the OFF CINEMA Festival in Poznań.
Łoziński's films have won dozens of awards, distinctions and nominations in total. He has received more than a dozen individual awards and national decorations. He was awarded, among others, the Dragon of Dragons for lifetime achievement at the 56th Krakow Film Festival. Winner of the Andrzej Wajda / Philip Morris Freedom Award, the Polityka Passport and the Great Polish Culture Award.
He has lectured at the Paris FEMIS Film School and the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw and conducted documentary workshops in such places as Moscow, Kiyv, Helsinki and Beijing. He initiated the Dragon Forum international documentary film workshops. He is a member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the European Film Academy. For the last 20 years, he has been teaching the DOK PRO documentary course at the Wajda School.
