MICHAŁ BIELAWSKI

Amnesty International Poland Award Competition juror.

Awarded with Polish Film Institute Award in 2013 as a journalist, for series of interviews with acclaimed polish filmmakers. The same year he debuted with feature documentary “Mundial. The Highest Stakes”, where he mixed politics and sports of ending communist era. He continued focusing on historical topics in his next works: in “1989”, through the found footage materials he shown a year of polish political transformation. For several times he collaborated with Canal+, History Channel and Viaplay.

Breakthrough in his career was the feature documentary “The Wind. A Documentary Thriller”, an HBO Europe creative documentary about highlanders affected by extremely destructive wind in Polish mountains. Premiered at Visions du Réel in 2019, “The Wind” came back from global tour with several awards received at Dok Leipzig, JiHlava, DocsMX, Mediawave, Trento Film Festival, Cervino CineMountain. In 2020 film was nominated by Polish Film Academy for Polish Film Award in Best Documentary category. From 2020 Michal is in board of Polish Documentary Directors Guild. In last few years he works on biopic about film director Andrzej Munk.
