Lizzie Mackenzie is a self-shooting director from the Scottish Highlands who makes films in order to explore what it means be a human animal. Her fascination with rebellious characters who choose to live life on the edge of society led to her debut feature, The Hermit of Treig, which was released in 2022 and has collected numerous awards including a Scottish BAFTA and international audience awards. British Film Institute has showcased Lizzie and her work as part of The Camera Is Ours: Pioneering British Documentary Film Makers. She is currently working on her second feature film.
