Born in Katowice, Poland, in 1967, the director has been nominated for an Oscar® and an Emmy for "The Children of Leningradsky" and for a Producers Guild of America Award for "Something Better to Come", among many other awards and accolades. Her emotional connection to her characters allows her to make instinctive and poetic films that celebrate the power of the human spirit and show the beauty of humanity in the most adverse of circumstances. She returns to MDAG once again - having won the Grand Prix - the Millennium Bank Award for 'Something Better to Come' in 2015, and having judged in the Main Competition in 2019.
