The Q Files. Śląsk Przegięty’s docu-drag show
following the screening of CASA SUSANNA, dir. Sebastien Lifshitz
partner: Śląsk Przegięty
Conventionality, artificiality, campiness, and exaggeration are some of the characteristics of drag, which can be defined as cross-dressing to deconstruct gender. Drag as performance has a long tradition in queer culture and takes on various forms and dimensions, constantly expanding its boundaries. In all its complexity, it can also serve as a documentary strategy. The Q Files is a subversive Silesian documentary drag show. Amid the haze of glitter and the sounds of pop and opera hits, intimate tales of self-identity will mix with astonishing queer stories drawn from local archives.
Śląsk Przegięty – a queer collective from Katowice, founded in 2018. They organise spaces and events for the city's LGBTQ+ community, collect queer archival material from the region and create performances and shows that explore the intersection of queer and local identities.
