In Polish
The scale of devastation caused by the war as well as the attempt to return to “new normalcy” in the liberated areas are the subject of focus for Piotr Pawlus and Tomasz Wolski. When Russia launched hostilities against civilians, Europeans united to take in nearly 8 million refugees from Ukraine. What happened to those who never left and those who returned home? Does "home" still mean the same to them? Filmmakers show what life looks like in bombed cities and burnt villages. Through a series of static shots of war-torn Ukraine, they invite the viewer on a contemplative journey, presenting various aspects of the new reality. They document the banality and tragedy of war without the sensationalism typical of depictions of Russian aggression. They don’t shy away from the banality and absurdity of life in the shadow of the invasion.
