The Mayor of Gdynia Award
During the awards gala, the results of the Mayor of Gdynia competition will be announced. The jury will present the Mayor of Gdynia Award as well as 15,000 PLN to the best film among those shown as part of the Main Competition for Millennium Bank Award.
JURY:
Magda Danaj - cartoonist and illustrator. She graduated from the film studies specialization at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Gdańsk. After graduation, she worked as a journalist, editor, columnist, proofreader as well as in corporate. Gradually, she exchanged writing to drawing (more or less at least). Creator of posters, album, book and magazine covers as well as many other graphic designs maintained in her signature style. She frequently collaborates with, among others, Kwartalnik Artystyczny Bliza and Newsweek Psychologia. Since 2012, she has been creating a popular online series Porysunki, in which simplistic drawings are accompanied by acute and honest commentary on her everyday life.
Karol Starnawski - director. A graduate of directing at the Łódź Film School. Since two years ago, he’s been a doctoral student and lecturer cooperating with the Łódź Film School. His full-length documentary debut "Shadows of the Empire" won the audience award at the „Człowiek w zagrożeniu” media festival in Łódź, and was shown at numerous festivals in Poland and abroad. In 2022, the winner of the main prize in the "Script Pro" competition for the feature script "Two Mothers" (together with Anna Dembowska). His second full-length documentary “Sad dziadka” will premiere in 2023.
Stefan Wesołowski – composer and violinist, graduate of the French Academie Musicale de Villecroze, he is associated with the world's leading avant-garde music publishers. Author of three well-received solo albums as well as "Nanook of the North" (2018) recorded with Piotr Kaliński. His album "Rite of the End" was named the best album of 2017 in the poll by "Gazeta Wyborcza '' as well as by the international portal Beehy.pe. An important part of Wesołowski's work is composing film scores. So far, he has composed music for "Listen to me Marlon", dir. Stevan Riley, “Love Express. The Disappearance of Walerian Borowczyk'' dir. Kuba Mikurda and "Escape to the Silver Globe". The latest production with Wesołowski's score is the Irish film "Wolf", directed by Nathalie Biancheri and starring Lily-Rose Depp and George MacKay.
