On the day when museums, galleries and cultural institutions open their doors to visitors, the Lower Silesian Film Centre invites you to a screening of a documentary whose protagonist is, nomen omen, a museum undergoing a process of transformation. The film “White Balls on Walls” has been selected from the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival programme especially for the Museum Night. The title is taken from the slogan and chant that accompanied a demonstration in front of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam 20 years ago. In 2019, 90% of the works on display at the Stedelijk were by white men. When assessing art, should skin colour and gender also be taken into account? How do we involve an audience that thinks everything is “too politically correct” in the changes?
