Main Competition: Freedom Award sponsored by the City of Poznań
This year's edition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival in Poznań is the third time that The City Of Poznań Freedom Award will be presented. From the films selected for the national Main Competition, a three-person Jury will award the winning title that most faithfully defends the foundations of freedom and fights for dignity and human rights through its cinematic message. The creator of the winning film will receive a prize of €3,000. The announcement of the recipient of the award and the presentation of the statuette will take place on Thursday, May 19, at 8.45 pm in Muza 1 Cinema.
Jury:
Mariusz Forecki – documentary photographer and author of photography books. For many years, he has been keenly observing human condition entangled in socio-political processes (Afghanistan, Armenia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Russia). Forecki participated, among others, in the Dutch festival Noorderlicht, the Biennale of Photography in Prague, the Month of Photography in Bratislava, the Biennale of Photography in Poznań, and the KAUNASPHOTO festival. A graduate of the Institute of Creative Photography at the University of Silesia in Opava, Czech Republic, co-founder of the PIX.HOUSE Foundation. Winner of the Artistic Award of the City of Poznań in 2010 and a scholar of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Paweł Pieniążek - a journalist who regularly collaborates with “Tygodnik Powszechny”. He reported on events from Afghanistan, Nagorno-Karabakh, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. Author of the books Greetings from Novorossiya. Eyewitness to the War in Ukraine, Wojna, która nas zmieniła and Po kalifacie. His latest book, Opór. Ukraińcy wobec rosyjskiej inwazji, has just been published by Wydawnictwo W.A.B. Pieniążek is a winner of the MediaTory journalism award.
Zuzanna Wrońska - singer, songwriter, composer, co-founder of the band Ballady i Romanse (with whom she released four albums), as well as the keyboardist of the ephemeral band "MEBLE", whose leader is Paweł Dunin Wąsowicz. Co-author of music and author of lyrics for Agnieszka Smoczyńska's films: "THE LURE", "KINDLER AND THE VIRGIN", "ŚWIĘTA KLUSKA" and "SILENT TWINS".
