LGBT+ community - inclusive language workshop

LGBT, LGBT+, or maybe LGBTQ? LGBT+ community or queer community? Homosexual or gay person? How to talk to LGBT+ people in order to not cause hurt and how to talk about LGBT+ people in order to build social acceptance and understanding? A 45-minute workshop on inclusive language, during which basic phrases and concepts related to LGBT+ people will be presented. After this meeting, you will have the tools to change the reality around you based on language.
Guests:
Katarzyna Stryjek - linguist, editor of the inclusive magazine DUMA, involved in smuggling inclusive language into popular consciousness and giving space and platform to people from marginalised communities. Privately, she designs jewellery, plays Sims and listens to emo bands.
Oleksandr - Sasza - Pohorelov (he/him) - co-author and editor of the first inclusive Polish magazine DUMA Mag. Being both a migrant and a queer person, Sasza's goal is to use the magazine's platform to create representation of marginalised groups in Poland. Language issues play a particularly important role for him since he uses 5 languages on a daily basis. Together with Kat Stryjek, he is responsible for every comma, every word, as well as generally understood linguistic inclusivity in the pages of DUMA Mag.
