The screening of Trinh T. Minh-ha's first feature film “A Tale of Love” (USA 1995, 107 min.), a loose adaptation of the poetic novel “Kim Van Kieu”, will open the first retrospective of Trinh T. Minh-ha's films in Poland – “When the Moon Waxes Red” – organised as part of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. Voyeurism and erotic visual pleasure are the threads that organise the film's narrative and make up the sensual, emotional and intellectual depiction of love. The hybridity of the film's form is also implied by reading the extended dialogues between the characters as interviews. “I would say that the interview is, at its best, a device that interrupts the power of speaking,” says Trinh T. Minh-ha, quoted by prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Radkiewicz, co-curator of the retrospective, in her book “Refleksje zza kamery. Reżyserki o kinie i formie filmowej”. During the meeting, prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Radkiewicz will provide an introduction to Trinh T. Minh-ha's work.

prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Radkiewicz – co-curator of the Trinh T. Minh-ha retrospective organised as part of the festival, film scholar. She works at the Institute of Audiovisual Arts at Jagiellonian University.
